Story

At The Geoffrey Jefferson Brain Research Centre, we believe that improving brain imaging is essential for gaining a clearer understanding of the brain. Imaging allows us to visualise the brain without invasive procedures, making it crucial for monitoring various diseases.

We are currently supporting a PhD student dedicated to developing innovative MRI techniques. For instance, new MRI markers can provide insights into brain inflammation and changes in blood supply associated with vascular dementia. These research projects aim to enhance our understanding of disease mechanisms and pave the way for better diagnostic tools.

The cost of conducting PhD research in this vital area is £100,000. This funding will enable the development of new MRI techniques that can deepen our understanding of neuroinflammation in the human brain and investigate how alterations in blood supply impact vascular dementia.

Your support is instrumental in attracting talented graduates and advancing new MRI measurements that can be utilised in clinical practice, ultimately benefiting patients suffering from brain diseases. We invite you to contribute—whether your donation is big or small, every contribution will make a significant difference and help us reach our goal.
