Story
I have decided to take part in the Great North Run this year for Spinal Research UK. Anyone who knows me will know this isn’t my idea of a perfect Sunday, but after the year my family had in 2023 it only seemed right.
My brother suffered a spinal cord injury in the summer of 2023 and at the time no one was sure what the outcome was going to be for him. He has spent the months since his accident learning to do everything again and has defied all odds. I’ve decided that if he could do that, I could do this!
He’s been an absolute inspiration throughout and I’d love nothing more than to raise awareness and money for this charity which supports the research to support anyone else who finds themselves in the situation we did. Absolutely anything would mean the world. ✨
Spinal Research is the UK’s leading charity funding medical research around the world to develop effective treatments for paralysis caused by spinal cord injury. Every year 1,000 people in the UK and Ireland are paralysed following an injury to their spinal cord.
We receive no government funding and rely entirely on the support of the public to raise funds for our research. Because of the efforts of our supporters, we have funded innovative medical research that has achieved a number of ground breaking changes in the field.
