Story
During my lifetime I have met so many refugees and asylum seekers who have enriched my life and made me realise how much they deserve our support and kindness and respect. I find it impossible to understand why they are met with so little compassion and I feel ashamed that there is a continual drive from our government to make it as difficult as possible for people to find sanctuary here.
Many of the lovely people that I know who are waiting for month after month to know if they are going to be allowed to make a new life, have come here - in many difficult ways - because they suffered abuse in their home countries.
You deserve better than this. And that's why I'm raising money for Refugee Action. They have been standing up for refugees since 1981, delivering services for refugees, and campaigning for their rights.
My tiny resolution is to KNIT ONE COTTON DISHCLOTH EVERY DAY THROUGHOUT SEPTEMBER. £2.50 would be welcome but any donation would be wonderful. You can choose one colour or two.
Please sponsor me if you can, and help support refugees across the UK. Thank you!
