Imagine climbing a 1085-metre-high mountain…and back again…in darkness!

Just after midnight on June 23rd, we will begin our ascent up Wales’ highest peak, Mount Snowdon (Yr Wyddfa), climbing to the summit by only the light of the moon (and our head torches!). We will endure dramatic, rocky and steep terrain on the Llanberis Path, in a round-trip estimated to take 9 hours.

We’re embarking on this exciting challenge in memory of Gez’s much-loved parents, Nick and Breda, who we lost to lung cancer.

More than 48,000 people are diagnosed with lung cancer in the UK each year. It is the second most common cause of cancer in men and women. As lung cancer is often diagnosed once it has reached the most advance stage, it is the most common cause of cancer death. One in eight people with lung cancer have never smoked.*

We will take time to reflect on our lost loved ones through the stargazing we hope to do on our night-time trek, in addition to the beautiful sunrise views of the coast and lofty heights of northern Snowdonia.

We would be grateful of any donation, however small, to the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation - a vital charity of personal significance.

We are delighted to be completing this challenge with our dear friends, Sam and Ciarán, who are fundraising on a separate page in memory of Sam’s wonderful mum, who she lost to lung cancer four years ago.

Thanks to Sam for her astonishing organisational skills, we can join in with this challenge and contribute to this marvellous charity. We are so looking forward to sharing this experience and remembering together, against the inspiring backdrop of Snowdonia.
