Story
In October last year my mother in law, Jenny passed away from cancer. It was incredibly difficult for the family and would have been made impossible had it not been for the support of the Macmillan team throughout. A few close friends and family agreed that taking part in an event to raise money for those who supported Jenny through her illness would be the right thing to do. Having also lost my own mum to cancer, this is a cause which is very close to my heart.
Whilst it was on her list, Jenny never got to visit Lindisfarne so when deciding what event to take part in, we knew it had to be the Northumberland Coast Hike, which finishes a stones throw away.
Me, my wife, my father in law and a group of close friends will be taking part in the Macmillan Mighty Hike on Saturday 14 September. A marathon length trek along the east coast of the UK.
I have pledged to raise £250 and would appreciate any support in reaching this. By fundraising my pledge, I could pay for a Macmillan Support Worker for two days who could provide emotional, practical and financial advice to someone affected by cancer.
