Story
Following my inaugural race last year, on Sunday October 13th, I will be running my 2nd Royal Parks Half Marathon fundraising for Cris Cancer Foundation.
Cris is an international charity that funds cutting-edge research into pioneering new cancer treatments to give people the best chance of survival. Cancer is one of the leading causes of death in the world. Yet, many lives could be saved if scientists had the resources they need to carry out research into pioneering new treatments. Cris gives scientists in the UK, Spain and France the support and funds to accelerate the discovery of cancer treatments for adults and children.
Over the last 12 years, Cris has given £36 million to research bodies such as The Institute of Cancer Research, so they can carry out vital research into cancer treatments and has pledged to invest another £51 million over the next five years to save more lives.
By stepping in where there are gaps in funding, as well as collaborating and building alliances worldwide with top research institutions, they support research scientists to speed up innovative therapies – bringing hope to thousands of cancer patients.
In addition, since its creation in 2010, the CRIS Cancer Foundation has been identifying talent amongst researchers worldwide. Through their grants and fellowships, they give scientists the funding and support they need throughout their research careers to make significant discoveries in cancer treatments.
As I did last year and to incentivise me further, for every minute of the run below 2 hours, I will be pledging £100 and for every minute below 1 hour and 50 minutes, I will be pledging an additional £250.
Thank you all for the support!!!
