Story

I will run 15km/week from 1/11/2024 - 31/01/2025 (3 months).

I will be completing this both on the roads and a running machine. (I may end up doing some when my boys are asleep & Harry is at work).

As people will know, I am no runner, I have put on 3 stone in the past year and I am extremely unfit. So this will definitely be a challenge for me.

At the end I will also be donating my hair which I have been growing since July 2023.

In July of 2023 my beautiful sister Jo was diagnosed with incurable stage 4 bowel cancer. After a year of various medical and surgical interventions she was told that there was no further treatment available. Jo recieved palliative care from September 2024 to October 2024 at home surrounded by family, just as she wished. She passed away peacefully at the end of October.

Jo was an extremely strong women and will be so missed.

Jo raised an incredible £6,000 for cancer research UK by walking 200km amongst chemotherapy, radiotherapy and surgeries. She walked until the very end, determined to finish her challenge.

She truly was inspirational.

Jo's husband Will is currently raising money for Isabel Hospice, the wonderful team who helped facilitate Jo's wish of being cared for at home during her final weeks.

I would now like to take on my own challenge to raise money for the incredible Bowel Cancer UK, the UK's leading Bowel Cancer charity. Who support and fund targeted research, provide expert information and support for patients and their families, educate the public and professionals about the disease and campaign for early diagnosis and access to best treatment and care.

This is extremely important to me as Jo saught medical intervention as soon as she noticed her symptoms, she also utilised various bowel cancer support groups online, I would like for others to have the knowledge to do the same.

I am grateful for anything you are able to give.

I will keep you updated on my journey! Might even download Strava.
