Story
In September 2023, our family experienced an unexpected and life-changing event when my sister gave birth to her son at just 27 weeks—three months early. Born premature, Hugo faced numerous challenges, but thanks to the incredible doctors and nurses at Jessop's Wing, he fought through every obstacle. Their expert care and dedication saved his life and today, he is thriving.
During this incredibly difficult time, my sister and her partner were not only supported medically but emotionally as well. Jessop's Wing went above and beyond, providing the parents with a place to stay so they could be close to their son, who required round-the-clock, critical care. The staff’s unwavering support helped them navigate the traumatic highs and lows of Hugo’s health journey.
As a family, we are so grateful for the care, compassion, and expertise Jessop's Wing has shown us. To show our appreciation and support for this vital cause, my dad has been training me to complete a half marathon. We are a close-knit family, and this is our way of giving back to those who gave so much to us during such a challenging time.
We are raising funds to help ensure Jessop’s Wing can continue to provide life-saving care for families like ours. Please join us in supporting this incredible team that made all the difference for our family.
We are so grateful to have our thriving, happy, miracle man in our lives today and this is credit to the dedication and expertise of the Jessop’s wing.

******Help support Sheffield's Neonatal Unit at The Jessop Wing. The Unit relies heavily on fundraising and donations to support our improvements and changes. Donations have funded parent accommodation and flats that allow families to reside in the hospital, a Family Support Sister who supports parents and families using the NICU, VCreate which is an application that allows staff to send photographs and videos of babies on the unit to parents who are unable to be in the hospital and various other items to help families who have got babies on the unit, and staff to do their day-to-day jobs.********
