Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page!! I’m running the London Royal Parks half marathon on Sunday 13th October, raising money for the MS Society 🏃♀️➡️🧡
I signed up after watching my friends run the Paris half earlier this year (admittedly after a few celebratory drinks) and started running at the end of March. I still have a LONG way to go and it’s definitely not been easy, but the MS Society is a cause close to my heart.
Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a condition that affects your brain and spinal cord. In MS, the coating that protects your nerves is damaged. This causes a range of symptoms like blurred vision and problems with how we move think and feel.
My wonderful Grandad Gerry was diagnosed with MS 45 years ago and spent the rest of his life in a wheelchair, paralysed from the neck down. There were next to no treatment options available and we sadly lost my Grandad 25 years after his diagnosis - he is greatly missed.
More recently, my brilliant and brave friend Beth was diagnosed with MS at just 27. I can’t really put into words how Beth has taken her diagnosis in her stride and reminds everyone around her every day to take life one day at a time and appreciate the little things (love you xxx) 🫶 Beth raises awareness about MS and shares her own story on Instagram here: _my.ms.journey_
I’m sure many of you have similar stories of friends, family and loved ones, as more than 130,000 people in the UK have MS. The MS Society is here to help everyone live well with MS and fund research to stop MS for good. My Grandad’s prognosis would have been totally different if he was diagnosed today, thanks to all of the research done so far.
Any support you can give is greatly appreciated.
Let’s stop MS together 🧡
Thank you, G xx
