My cousin Marcus Stewart discovered he had Motor Neurone Disease (MND) in January last year (2022) and publicly revealed his diagnosis in September. MND is a rare incurable condition affecting the brain and nerves.

Marcus has chosen to put his efforts into raising research funds & MND awareness for Darby Rimmer as this charity was set-up by a former professional football player. This gave Marcus a strong link to his profession and access to a network of people all fighting the same challenge.

The football community have been superb in rallying around Marcus and his wife Louise culminating in many charity events. In addition, family and friends have also rallied around with their own fund raisings activities, one of them being this charity cycle ride taking in 7 of Marcus’s ex-football clubs in 7 days of cycling.
