George's fundraiser for The Brain Tumour Charity

George Romer-Lee is raising money for The Brain Tumour Charity
In memory of Lizzie Bramall

Drumathon · 31 October 2025

The Brain Tumour Charity is the world’s leading brain tumour charity and the largest dedicated funder of research into brain tumours globally. Committed to saving and improving lives, we’re moving further, faster to help every single person affected by a brain tumour. A cure really can’t wait

Story

When I was 3 years old, I became special friends with Lizzie. We shared many memories together such as performing together in school plays (we were both police officers!), enjoying music together, being in the same classes and going to Church together. When it came to Valentine’s Day 2018, I had a visit from our friend, Mark Bramall, hand-delivering a Valentine’s Card to me (aged 9) from his daughter Lizzie (also aged 9)... with the earth-shattering news that just a few days before, beautiful Lizzie had been diagnosed with a catastrophic, inoperable brain tumour of the brainstem (DIPG - Diffuse Intrinsic Pontine Glioma). DIPG affects around 25 children in the UK each year, with an average life expectancy from diagnosis of just 9 months.

Indeed, just 9 short months later, on 15th November 2018, Lizzie tragically lost her battle to this brutal disease. She died in her parents' arms... only a week before her 10th Birthday.

Lizzie's legacy of resilience, hope and kindness will never be forgotten. In truth, it will continue to grow as her inspirational parents, Sally and Mark, strive to raise funds to help facilitate essential research into childhood brain tumours via The Brain Tumour Charity because a cure simply can't wait.

In memory of Lizzie, I have chosen to play the drums, non-stop for 12 hours, which will be a massive challenge to undergo. Included in this event, there will be different sessions to keep me going and to keep the crowd flowing. These sessions will include: Lunchtime Jazz & Easy Listening (being a rock drummer, this will be a challenge in itself), workshops for young enthusiasts, Trick or Treat hour (Halloween-themed rock) and the final countdown (playing whatever I can with the little energy I have left in the tank)! Friends are welcome to bring an amplifier and their instrument and jam along with me.

Lizzie’s Fund is targeted to support research into childhood brain tumours. Lizzie bravely supported research every day through her participation in trials. Her family and friends are committed to ensuring that Lizzie’s Fund will provide the critical funds required to find a cure for brain tumours and thank everyone in advance for donating and supporting our battle against one of the most devastating of childhood cancers.

Many thanks for all your support,

George Romer-Lee
