Purpose

George Michael very tragically passed away on Christmas of 2016. Just in time for the beginning of the Christmas season, I am doing a fundraiser in honour of George Michael to honour him and his legacy, and his love for Christmas.

Earlier this year, I helped to initiate an online page in honour of George's 60th birthday. After tremendously hard work, I was able to gather approximately 1300 signatures to celebrate what would have been his 60th birthday.

Goal

My goal for this fundraiser is to raise $250 US by November 23rd (3 weeks from today) for Project Angel Food, which is a charity based in the USA that George supported while he was alive. Project Angel Food does phenomenal work to deliver specialized meals to those fighting serious illnesses. Below is a brief description of what they do:

"Project Angel Food is the loving neighbor who knows that food is medicine, food is love, and food nourishes the soul. We believe no one fighting critical illness should go hungry, which is why we personally deliver, with care and compassion, free medically-tailored meals, handmade with healthy ingredients to those in our community who are hungry and alone."

A Second Initiative

In tandem with this page (also as a gesture in memory of George), I have already made a donation to Mercy Ships, an organization that goes to poverty-stricken nations and provides free lifesaving surgery to those in need. I bought two celebration dresses totaling $50 Canadian.

Mercy Ships gives reconstruction surgery to women who have endured years of shame and rejection due to injury during childbirth. Celebration dresses allow women who have received this life-changing surgery to celebrate with a very special dress.

Please Help

Every year, beginning around this time, George's Christmas song "Last Christmas" plays on radio stations and music streaming apps all across the world. George greatly loved the holiday of Christmas, and sadly he left this world on Christmas day 7 years ago.
