Story
On the 1st of August this year, I lost my Dad, Peter Gehm, to Leukaemia. Dad was first diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma back in 2004 and for the past 20 years the cancer returned 5 more times.
During this time, Dad had chemo therapy, a stem cell transplant and radio therapy, all of which took a massive toll on his body, but it was a price he was bravely willing to pay.
Dad was strong and resilient, and to help him with this, he had age on his side, something not everyone who has to undergo life changing treatment does.
Having grown up seeing the effects of cancer on a loved one, I've seen what it does to your hope, i've seen what it does to your body. In honour of my Dad and his journey, I have decided to cut my hair and to donate it to The Little Princess Trust.
I can think of no better use for it, and may that hair, donated from someone so loved, by someone so brave, carry with it the strength to spark that flame of hope, and help bolster these incredible children's bravery.
We currently supply around 2,000 wigs every year and so The Little Princess Trust needs financial donations, as well as hair donations, for its free wig provision service. We also fund childhood cancer research and, since 2016, have supported 128 projects searching for kinder and more effective treatments. This all means that every pound you raise helps us give Hair and Hope to so many children and young people with cancer.
