Story
Bottom Line: I'll be raising money for food banks by doing a Murph workout every 4 hours for 48 hours from 27-29 Dec.
Why?
The cost of living crisis is continuing to hit everyone across the country, and this amazing charity aims to help those most in need this winter.
Last year my friend and I raised money for the Trust (by completing our first 4x4x48 challenge) and they ended up giving out more food and spending more than was donated. This year, they are having to top up their donations by buying food on a scale they've never seen before.
This is my attempt to alleviate some of the pressure on them.
How?
I will participate in the 4x4x48 challenge, replacing the standard 4-mile runs with 'Murph' workouts from 27-29 December 2023.
For clarity:
The 4x4x48 challenge, conceived by Navy SEAL David Goggins, involves running 4 miles every 4 hours for 48 hours.
The Murph workout, named after Navy SEAL Captain Michael Murphy who was killed on operations in Afghanistan in 2005, includes a 1-mile run, 100 pull-ups, 200 push-ups, 300 squats, and another 1-mile run.
In total, I'll complete 12 Murph workouts, amounting to 1,200 pull-ups, 2,400 push-ups, 3,600 squats, and 24 miles.
Rules:
All workouts will be done outdoors.
Each workout will be completed within 50 minutes.
