Story
I am George Dobson and I work as a Patient Pathway Coordinator at the Countess of Chester Hospital.
I am fundraising for the Retinal Eye Scanner appeal, which aims to purchase a state-of-the-art retinal imaging machine for the Westminster Eye Clinic. This will aid the speed of eye tests, help with earlier identification and treatment of specific eye conditions, and improve clinic flow.
If you can please donate towards this great cause, I would be grateful. On balance, you never know when you might need a retinal scanner.
In partnership with Global Adventure Challenges, I will be taking part in a three-day Camino de Santiago trek experience. I will trek the last 67km of the Camino Frances - part of the famous Camino de Santiago pilgrimage route. As a group, we will trek through rolling green landscapes, traditional villages and picturesque woodlands on route to Santiago. Along the way I will have the opportunity to discover local traditions and take in the local culture. I am looking forward to undertaking this remarkable journey and unique experience whilst supporting the Trust.
The trek will be from Wednesday 2 to Sunday 6 October 2024
I am looking to raise at least the minimum amount of £2300 required to take on this challenge.
Any donation will make a difference in assisting with me meeting this target and will allow me to see this personal mission through to its closure stage.
Thank you for your support!
*The Chester Eye fund want to purchase an Optos ultra-wide field retinal imaging machine.
The Optos ultra-wide retinal imaging machine is an advanced, state-of-the art scanner that produces colour images of the thin layer of tissue that lines the back of your eye (retina). The retina is responsible for producing what we see by receiving light and images and sending these signals to the brain via the optic nerve.
The Optos scanner produces high quality colour retinal images over a greater area of the retina meaning that eyecare professionals can identify eye disease in more difficult to visualise areas with greater ease and accuracy. The detailed views provided by this machine provide many benefits including being quick and easy to perform, even in children, improving clinic flow, and potentially earlier identification and treatment of certain eye conditions.
