Georga's fundraiser for Mind

London Landmarks Half Marathon 2025 · 6 April 2025 ·
My name is Georga and I have decided to run the London Landmarks Half Marathon on 6th April 2025 to fundraise as much money as I can for Mind charity.
In April 2023 my beautiful best friend Catryn lost her amazing mum Paula to mental health. Paula, 52, was an incredibly kind, caring, hardworking and absolutely hilarious person as well as an outstanding mum to both her children. Losing Paula hit all of us so hard and really opened my eyes to the struggles that people go through on a daily basis with mental health while still being a one of a kind person like she was. Paula would light up any room she walked into and I am confident that an energy like that never truly leaves this world.
I have chosen to fundraise for Mind as it is a charity that is now very close to my heart. It is estimated that 14.3% of deaths worldwide, or approximately 8 milliondeaths each year, are attributable to mental health and even though 1 in 4 people have mental health problems, most don’t get the help they need. This has to change. Mind is an absolutely essential charity that works across England and Wales by making mental health a top priority and offers help whenever someone might need it through their information, advice and local services. They really deserve every donation they get.
Anyone that knows me will know I would never even run for a train and get tired just walking up the stairs, so the thought of running 13 miles is scary and is going to be a tough challenge but one that I’m ready to take on in aid of a great charity and in memory of such a special lady. I will be doing this along side some of my closest friends, to have them by my side and having the encouragement of one another the whole way will make this so much more rewarding.
I thank you in advance for reading my page. Any donations however big or small will be so greatly appreciated and will help anyone struggling with mental health get the support they need. I’m hoping by completing this half marathon I can make everyone proud but especially Paula!
For anyone experiencing mental health difficulties please speak to family and/or loved ones or call the mind helpline numbers. Mental health is something never to be silent about💙
Thankyou!
In loving memory of Paula Lovitt xx
