Marathon in a Month
Campaign by PMRGCAuk (RCN 1128723)
We're encouraging patients, family, friends & supporters to walk a marathon in July to raise funds & awareness so that we can continue to provide support for patients when they are newly diagnosed & throughout their journey with PMR & GCA.

Story

I'm walking a marathon in July to support the valuable work done by PMRGCAuk.

I was diagnosed with GCA in March 2019 when I spent two weeks in hospital and developed double vision which thankfully could be treated with steroids and my vision eventually returned to normal. The support of the charity at that time was invaluable.

They are the only UK charity dedicated to PMR and GCA. They provide information, support and reassurance to people with either of these conditions and help to raise awareness in the medical world and in the general population so that people can get a speedier diagnosis if they have either of the conditions.

Both conditions can be life changing. GCA is the leading medical cause of sudden onset blindness. Getting a prompt diagnosis and treatment is vital.

With your help, they can achieve more and support more people.

We help people with Polymyalgia Rheumatica & Giant Cell Arteritis, & raise awareness about these diseases that can suddenly attack people aged 50+. PMR causes extreme pain in the muscles & joints & affects mobiliity. GCR can cause sudden blindness if not treated immediately. We believe we can save the sight of hundreds of people a year by raising awareness.
