Late in 2022, we thought something odd was going on. Come 2023, we knew it. Tracy Anderson (Cowan) had her world fall apart in 2023 going from an independent, sporting lady and teacher, to be dealt the news that she had MND. 2023 has been horrific for her and her husband, Iain, my Mum and Dad and my own family, wife and kids. We all have had this shocker of a journey and now Auntie Tracy cannot work, walk, use her arms, relies on a hoist for all movement, needs help to feed and her speech has all but gone. But she can still smile, take the absolute mick of out of us all with her expressions and nods and grins. She is still Tracy, but this MND journey has robbed her of all independence.

My kids, Bradan Aged 12 at Lasswade High School and Eilish Aged 9 at Bonnyrigg Primary School said 'Dad, we want to raise money for Tracy and Doddie'. They have become great carers, mature beyond their years and their resilience has kept me me going, my wife Emma going and the rest of the family. We are lucky to have them as distraction. But for Tracy and Iain, every day is like groundhog day. They have been enjoying a break in Doddie's house in Dirleton, an all equipped accommodation for MND sufferers. But this is the ONLY place we have found that can cater for her needs. So that will be others experience too.

There is no cure. We must find one. We must supply other accommodations that MND sufferers and carers and share for a break, respite and quality time. We will make memories for as long as we can for she is still Auntie Tracy, sister Tracy, wife Tracy and daughter Tracy.

So, Bradan (accompanied by my wife, Emma) will walk around the clock for 12hours, taking in 26.2 miles around sites in Lothian and Edinburgh that my sister loved when she lived here. Eilish (accompanied by me) will cycle a similar marathon distance on the same day. Their choice, their call of what they wanted to do, so please dig deep or donate today's Americano and lets get them on their way.

Thank you for your time on behalf of all my family. And for all the support to my friends and colleagues over the past 15months, thank you.
