Story
Why I am fundraising for the Lighthouse Charity
Last year I went through a very difficult period in my personal life. Like many people in construction, I kept going on the outside while things were far from fine behind the scenes.
The Lighthouse Charity stepped in at exactly the right time.
They provided calm, practical support when I needed it most, without judgement, without pressure, and without making me feel like a “problem” that needed fixing. They treated me like a human being first, not just another case.
What struck me most was how quietly effective they are. No noise. No drama. Just real help for people who need it, when they need it.
Our industry is full of strong, capable people who are very good at coping, and very bad at asking for help. Lighthouse exists for that exact gap. And they do it better than anyone else I have seen.
That is why this year I am taking on 12 endurance challenges in 12 months to raise money for them. From long distance walks to the 3 Peaks and the Ultimate 3 Peaks, every mile is for a charity that genuinely changes lives in construction.
If my legs can help fund support for someone else when they need it most, then every blister is worth it.
Thank you for supporting this cause. It means more than you know.
The Lighthouse Charity is dedicated to the emotional, physical & financial wellbeing of construction workers & their families. We provide a range of free pro-active resources to support the industry. Our free & confidential 24/7 Helpline & text HARDHAT service offers a range of information, guidance & support. These services are complemented by our free Self Support App. We receive no public funding so rely on the industry to 'support their own'. Every penny raised helps make a difference to a construction worker in need
