Story
Hey everyone, I am raising money for the North East Autism Society by running the Geneva Marathon in May this year.
This is a charity active across the North East of the UK, providing specialist advice, emotional support and opportunities to children and adults diagnosed with autism.
I have grown up with a younger brother who has severe autism. We are very close and I love him to bits. I have also missed his quirks, his warm-heartedness and energy since I started my work here in Switzerland. But in addition to this, the efforts made by my family to support him, find work and have a fulfilling life have inspired me to take on this challenge.
I believe that we must recognise not only the innumerable values which those with autism bring to a community, but also how difficult life can be without support and recognition. Unfortunately, many young women and men remain undiagnosed, underrepresented and even poorly treated across the UK. My hope is that organisations like North East Autism Society can help to change this.
Any donations would be very much appreciated! I hope to make everyone proud and cross that finish line more or less intact.
