Story
Weigh & Play was created 16 months ago to provide a non-medically led baby weigh in group for new parents. Unfortunately in our town there aren’t any medically- led baby weigh in clinics, so this was created to fill a gap.
Gemma created the group along with The Roger Morris centre to provide this service for free. She runs this voluntarily and also has a team of volunteers who help her. The group has been incredibly popular and has helped many new parents, however now we need some help!
Whilst we’ve been able to run the group for free, we now need to cover the cost of the hall for the next year. The Roger Morris centre provide an amazing space as well as other amazing groups and money is needed to keep our group running. We have many testimonials from parents who have been to the group who have told us how important it has been to them to be able to access baby weighing scales, as well as a free, safe space to socialise with their babies. We also fundraise to provide a donations table with nappies and wipes. We really do not want to have to end the group, so we are hoping through the kindness of peoples donations we can keep running at least for another year. All money raised will go directly to Viables Community Association who run The Roger Morris Centre where our group is held.
Jay will be doing the South Downs 100 mile trail in July to raise money for this cause, so all donations will be gratefully received to egg him on!
