Gaza Pizza Party
There is no reason Aid shouldn't be fun! We're teaming up with Gazan Pizzaro Mohammed ElAmerin every week to put on a Pizza Party in a camp in Gaza. Using the boring ingredients we are all sick of, we are transforming hot meals into a party for everyone involved.
Where do you come in? Well you can buy a Pizza for someone in Gaza on this page. It's simple, tasty and a much-needed relief.
How this fundraiser works?
1 Pizza = 5 USD (5 Servings | Good for 2 People)
1 Slice = 1 USD (1 Serving | 2 Slices per person)
FAQ:
Q1) What on earth is happening?
A good friend of the team Chef Mohammed El-Amareen is Gaza's most skilled Pizzaro having competed internationally in a variety of Pizza competitions. Together we have built a mobile Pizza Kitchen that can go around to different camps to make Pizza for people as a form of hot meals
Q2) Why Pizza?
We are looking for sustainable initiatives to give a moral boost to our people. Flour prices have remained relatively stable across the war making this something we know we can deliver on even in when things go from bad to worst.
Q3) Why a Pizza Party?
Well why not? We are sick of eating tinned foods and plain bread for those of us lucky enough to find it. It's been nearly a year of genocide and common comforts are rare to come by. Like sports, the feeling of getting a pizza is a universal. By teaching kids how to twist the dough and getting the community involved we make it an opportunity for some much deserved distraction.
Q4) How often is the party happening?
So far we have pulled off the Pizza Party once successfully giving out 150 pies. We are aiming to do one party every Friday where preliminarily we will distribute 300 Pizzas. With the correct support, we could get more ovens, or throw more parties in the week. While we get things started it might be tricky to nail this weekly, but we will get there with time.
Q5) Is it not more efficient to just give people food?
We use economic ingredients and re-use things that would traditionally be available in our aid boxes to make these pizzas, the only additional costs are those of the kitchen. As far as hot meals are concerned it's actually a more economic.
Q6) How do you decide where to throw the party?
We wish we could get a slice of Pizza to every person in Gaza, but unfortunately we are just a small team doing the best we can. We will try to randomise distributions to address as many camps as possible, but ultimately our movement is regularly constrained due to he ongoing circumstances.
Q7) How are the Gaza Sunbirds Involved?
The Sunbirds team helps manage and service the kitchen. Our athletes are involved in the execution of the event and ensuring that it takes place. The Sunbirds international network helps support this initiative.
Q8) How can we make sure our money is being spent correctly?
Not only are we audited by our international partners, but our funds are held with AMOS Trust for specific purposes. This means the money you send in for aid gets used for aid, and the money you send in for our other activities are held on the side too. Your money will definitely make it to Gaza, every month we are able to expand on the amount of services we are providing people.
Q9) What happens if the party stops or to excess funding?
If for any reason plausible reasons the party were to stop, any excess funding will be used to support other Sunbirds Emergency Aid missions taking place across the strip. In the event where Sunbirds Emergency Aid missions were to end, the money will be repurposed to run cycling based rehabilitation courses for kids and adults.
