Story
Hi. It's me again and we're back this time with a new charity. This time we're raising money for Amyloidosis Research, in memory of a friend of mine who lost his battle with this horrible disease earlier this year. Mark was a friend and mentor and without his support during my time with MED Theatre, I wouldn't have an ounce of the confidence I have today. Mark was an amazing person, and really supportive to everyone around him. His work with MED Theatre is only a testiment to his legacy and the amount of people he helped and supported within his life is only evident of the people who were lucky enough to interact with such a kind soul.
Mark, you are truly missed amongst you friends, family, peers and loved ones. You were an amazing person, inside and out and I learnt a lot from our time together, both within an acting setting and in life itself. May you rest easy now, MED Theatre is in the best of hands and will continue to show the amazing things you have achieved within your time.
More details of Amyloidosis below:
Amyloidosis is a rare disease caused by damaging build up of abnormal protein fibres, called amyloid, within the tissues and organs. Amyloidosis can affect any part of the body and lead to life threatening organ failure. It causes the death of about one person in every thousand and there are about 6,000 cases in the UK at any time.
Donations to the Amyloidosis Research Fund within the Royal Free Charity supports the research, development and patients of the UK NHS National Amyloidosis Centre (NAC) at the Royal Free Hospital. The Centre, established in 1999, is funded directly by NHS Specialised Services to provide diagnostic and management advisory services for all UK amyloidosis patients.
Gift Aid supports the Royal Free Charity's full range of vital support services for staff and patients across the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust, as well as supporting research and innovation.
