Story
On the 18th of May 2024 my brother Gavin Hope (Gav) took his own life, aged 40 years.
Our world was shattered into a thousand pieces and will never be the same again.
He was a funny, witty, intelligent guy with the most amazing smile.
Sadly depression amongst other things took a hold of him and he decided that this was his only way out.
I contacted Every Life Matters shortly after loosing Gav and was shortly contacted by a member of the team.
As a family we have been meeting Paul, the bereavement support manager and he has been absolutely fantastic. I have also personally joined the Every Life Matters FB support group for families bereaved by suicide and have been attending the monthly groups ran by Debbie and Michelle.
When I saw that the charity had set up an event to help raise awareness - it was a no brainer for me and knew that I needed to get involved! I circulated the event around family and friends and we now have an “army” of people wanting to get involved in memory of Gav!
Please join us or show your support - any donation will be greatly received.

FACTS
Did you know that on average more than one person a week dies by suicide in Cumbria? That is more than double the amount that die on our County's roads.
Every death by suicide is an avoidable tragedy. Suicides are preventable.
We need to build a society where people feel able to reach out for help. Where members of the communities have the knowledge and skills to recognise when someone is at risk and to know how to offer support.
