Story
The Sussex Beacon is a charity specialising in care and support for people living with HIV in Sussex, based in Brighton.
The care they gave to my uncle Alan, on numerous occasions, during his final few years, was simply incredible.
The bond they built with him was special and I will never forget when so many of the incredible staff attended uncle Al’s funeral.
That meant so much to my mum, my brother and I, and since then I have taken great pride in supporting the Beacon through several charity activities we have organised at Search Seven as well as through personal events and attending events that the beacon have hosted too!
My team for the day will be as follows 🥁
Gav ‘grandad’ Willis
Paul ‘the Pacemaker’ Murrell
Stu ‘the glue’ Bowker
Ben ‘bring home the bacon 🥓’ Burgess
If you can support in any way I will be incredibly thankful, I am currently injured and have only managed a 3k run so far,l (my first run in 5 months), but I am determined to run whatever the body tells me, as I think of those, like my uncle, getting respite at the beacon, whose bodies are not behaving like their brains, and often in pain, and they still show determination and positivity every single day!
I really miss my uncle Alan (I am actually crying my eyes out writing this bit!) and he never got to see my beautiful daughters. I want the race to help them learn more about him as we race in his memory.
The S7 Beacon Sandwich team will be ready for the challenge! 🏃♀️ 🥓
Thanks for your support and thank you to the sussex beacon and my team mates 🙏
