The SAS Summer Fan Dance Race. A 14 mile weighted run over Pen-Y-Fan in the Brecon Beacons, 7 July 2024
British troops are recognised as the best in the world - and deservedly so, with the word ‘heroes’ being used in most news reports...but even heroes get hurt.

Story

I was injured while serving in the Royal Signals in Germany. A week later our son Christopher passed away. Having lost my brother Richard, also a soldier, who committed suicide while on duty in Germany, I was a broken man. Not just physically but emotionally too. The injuries I sustained led to lots of operations, the one most recently in June last year 2023 to remove further intestine. It is with the help and support from Back on Track that I truly believe I am here today. From physical help, to just as importantly my mental health. Although I will never be the old me, I am the best me I can be today thanks to ''Back on Track''.

IT'S TIME FOR ME TO PAY IT FORWARD

I am going to try and complete the SAS Summer Fan Dance. A 14 mile TAB carrying a 35lbs backpack up, over and back again, Pen-Y-Fan, the highest hill in the Brecon Beacons. The SAS use this as a training run and get 4 hours,10 minutes to complete. If they fail, they are out. My aim, well at 57 years old, is just to finish, and live to tell the tale.

If you're an injured veteran and feel Back on Track can help you then please get in touch with me.
