Story
Late on Friday the 8th of September, a 6.8 magnitude earthquake struck Morocco - the epicentre was in the High Atlas Mountains, approximately 70 kilometres south of Marrakech.
As a group of 8, we were at the base camp of Mount Toubkal on a hiking trip in the Atlas Mountains at 3,200 meters, when the earthquake took place. What followed was a tough, terrifying and emotional 24 hours, but as the hours went by, it became clear our experience paled into insignificance when compared with the local residents of the mountainous villages. Despite the horrendous situation the locals were in, we felt looked after like family and they did everything in their power to support us and get us safe. We now want to try and help them.
On the 19th of November, we will be climbing a mountain in Snowdonia together to raise as much money as possible for the local Moroccan Red Crescent are on the ground responding to the earthquake. Any donations would be hugely appreciated and go to an incredibly worthy cause that is very close to all of our hearts.
The Morocco Earthquake appeal will cover areas affected by the earthquake and those potentially affected in the future.
Thank you all,
Gary, Mel, Sophie, Jack, Jamie, Sophie, Mark, Alex and Sam
