Story

I aim to walk 100 miles in March 2025 to raise money for the Surrey Hills International Music Festival. Each May the Festival brings world class artists from Europe, UK and the USA - simply the best of the best - and right to your back yard. There is no need to fly anywhere or travel to London.I hope you feel able to sponsor me in this endeavour. There is nothing to beat live performance!

The money I raise will help ensure live classical music is available for you in years to come and for the rising generations of music lovers. The Festival needs to plan three years ahead to engage the most talented musicians from around the world. The Festival will also be able to run its other charitable projects, like the String Scheme and the Surrey Hills Young Composer Competition, and provide vital performance platforms for gifted young artists.

About the charity

As an organisation promoting the arts and culture, the Festival is a registered charity, but our charitable activity goes beyond just the presentation of world-class concerts. Through the support of the Festival Friends, we have supported the local String Scheme for local state primary pupils, enabling dozens of Year-4 pupils to receive weekly group instruction on loaned violins and cellos. This fantastic scheme (set up by Royal Grammar School Guildford) plugs the curriculum gap, giving local school children vital exposure to music and music-making. In addition, the festival creates invaluable performance opportunities for young and emerging artists as they work towards establishing sustainable careers.
