Story

Teenage Cancer Trust is one of Dumball Rally 2025’s chosen charities and teams will be raising money for young people with cancer.

The 2025 Dumball Rally will see a band of intrepid fundraisers take a fleet of old bangers to Majorca, in full fancy dress, covering over 4000km in 7 days.

It’s a carnival of mayhem on wheels - a true test of idiocy and endurance!

This is the last ever Dumball and a very special last challenge, dubbed ‘End of the Road’ think of this as Elton John’s farewell tour, Klopp’s final season, or Custer’s last stand!

Team ‘Dadda Mia!’ (Gary, Tony and David) are taking part in this charity car rally, a last multi-coloured, ill advised cavalcade of fancy dress madness, for people who know very little about cars. The rally is through Europe, starting in good old Blighty, down through France, Spain, Portugal and Gibraltar to Majorca.

Why Dadda Mia? I think everybody must now have seen Mamma Mia! A story of Sophie’s search for her father, set against a backdrop extravaganza of ABBA music, and who can forget the closing credit scenes with the ‘dads’ Pierce Brosnan, Colin First and Stellan Skarsgard dressed in ABBA costumes. Well this team of colourful oldies from the 70’s (and earlier) may have been a little indiscreet in their younger years, and need to go to Majorca dressed as ABBA to ‘face the music’. Anybody Could Be That Guy!

The first part of the challenge set by the wonderful team at Dumball HQ – we have to buy a car and promise to make sure it’s as sh*t as possible, because it won’t be coming back!

Now some of you may remember us doing the Dumball in 2017, and back then you thought we were a bunch of old guys going through a mid-life crisis, trying to recapture our youth, party with kids and raise some money in the process, well we are older now and nothing has changed. No crisis then and no crisis now.

This is not a holiday, this is going to be tough, the drives are going to be long every day and will be a test of our endurance, and that is why we are doing this and fundraising - because this is a challenge...and we are ready to rise to it!

Now the serious stuff:

Every day, seven young people aged 13-24 hear the words you have cancer. Teenage Cancer Trust is the only UK charity dedicated to providing the specialised nursing care and support they need to get through it.

Cancer doesn't just devastate a young persons health. It threatens to take away everything they care about their identity, their independence, and their dreams.

Teenage Cancer Trust fund specialist nurses, youth support teams and hospital units within the NHS to provide the very best care and support during treatment and beyond, making sure cancer doesn't stop young people living their lives.

The cost of the Dumball is met entirely by the team, that means all money raised goes to Teenage Cancer Trust - so please help us raise as much as possible, no donation is too small.

Thank you
