What am I doing?

I am raising money for the fabulous charity Barnardo's by running not 1 but 2 marathons in 2024. First up is London on April 20th before I cross the pond to the Big Apple to complete the New York marathon on November 3rd.

Why am I running for Barnados?

I am always selective over the charities I have represented previously. I'm of the opinion that its important that you know why you're asking others to donate to a particular charity, and that the cause you are raising funds for is in some way personal to you. I've previously run for Cancer Research after seeing the devastating affects bowel cancer had on my Grandad and also for Thrombosis UK after cruelly losing my dear father in law Mick to a pulmonary embolism.

As many of you will know, I work in the health and social care sector and I have witnessed first hand the abuse and suffering that has been inflicted on children and young people who are now in our care system. Barnado's play a fantastic role in protecting some of society's most vulnerable kids and their charity's vision is completely aligned to my own in that no UK child should be growing up in poverty in the modern day world.

I am delighted that they have chosen me to represent them in running 2 of the most prestigious marathons (2 of the Abbots World Recognised Big 6) and I'm going to train as hard as my body allows to ensure I don't let anyone down. Training for 1 marathon is hard enough, 2 in the same year will take some real dedication but I am ready for the challenge.
