Story
I'm running the 2024 TCS London Marathon... WTF!? How did that happen!? I've not even tried a half marathon, yet!
I'm sure I'll be fine! 😳
And, as I'm visually impaired myself, I figured I'd raise some money for, and run for, #TeamRetinaUK.
I have an eyesight disease called Retinitis Pigmentosa (RP) which is an hereditary disease that deteriorates the retina, and for me this means the deterioration of my peripheral sight which leaves me with an ever-increasing tunnel-like vision. For others it can be the reverse, so they lose their central vision first and it spreads outwards.
My Dad (Big Norm), also has this disease, so I'll be running for us both ❤️ As well as all the other people out there who are affected by inherited sight loss.
All of your donations here will mean Retina UK can do more of what they do best - supporting people affected by inherited sight loss and funding pioneering research.
For any and all donations made, from my heart to yours, I thank you 🙏
I have learnt, and am still learning, to accept and live with my sight loss, and push myself to do things that are outside of my comfort zone so I can grow from the inside-out and live to my fullest, no matter what limits or conditions I have currently set.
I know for many with similar sight loss, this is not the case and they may still be struggling along their journey, so I hope by doing this I can also inspire those who need it, and raise awareness of the condition itself as well as the mental health impacts it can come with.
Anyway, enough of my waffle, I got training to do...
Let's Do This! 💪🏻
You can catch me here talking about my training on the BBC Radio London Breakfast Show (10th April 2024): https://drive.google.com/file/d/1uqHiUmkGga5_L1qfzgccENYNH_8IIrt8/view?fbclid=IwAR0vVSIiynHq2xzLlgkExdubR_KAWLph0OslbSWO45BceveUITbdHPZzT7M_aem_AckLpe9L_9pnAJQf1xxllfLsNMRWp5YWGGb2NBiQ-qm1X-4rR2WCD9AyoXA11eOoJX5Pxj4gW71rY5WSg1TA7vCu
