Story
I am raising funds for the University of Bristol Healthy Minds charity by running the London Marathon in April 2024.
Mental health is now receiving the attention it rightly deserves and I believe the combination of physical exercise and mental health, which the Healthy Minds programme provides, would be very beneficial to students suffering with mental ill health. I know running certainly helps me!
I believe this is a very worthy charity to be running my first full marathon for and I have always wanted the London Marathon to be my first.
I have set myself a goal to try and run the marathon in under three hours! :-)
Thank you in advance to everyone who supports me and my fundraising for this charity.
Here's some further information on the charity...
The mental health and wellbeing of students at the University of Bristol is a key priority. Suffering with mental ill health disrupts students' academic studies and personal lives, often causing them to miss out on the transformative and enriching experiences offered by higher education.
UoBs Division of Sport, Exercise and Health (SEH) launched Healthy Minds in 2016 with this knowledge at the heart of it. The programme helps students affected by mental ill-health to get more active through user-led, personalised support. It includes sessions with an activity mentor, a tailored activity plan and support for future health maintenance, as well as access to a range of classes, clubs and sports opportunities.
Every pound raised will help to improve the quality and quantity of support offered, helping even more students.
