Story

My name is Gail McCauley. I started my running career quite by accident. I had a friend who asked me to run a Summer Series back in the late 90s. I agreed and caught the bug. Like a lot of new runners, I started doing every race I could find. During that early time, I completed many races including the Disney Marathon, Dallas White Rock, Chicago and The New York City Marathon. My running came to a complete stop at age 42, when I decided to fulfill my lifelong dream of becoming a registered nurse. Running fell to the wayside as studying (I had to get the A!), working and taking care of my 4 children were my priorities. I worked night shift for 11 years and I could never figure out how to get enough sleep, spend enough time with my family and still run. I have run a few races over the years since that time including the Diva Half Marathon, but now is the time to get back to the full marathon.

I’ve had many difficult circumstances in the past 3 years and was blessed to be supported by family, friends and some really special non-profit organizations. I am so lucky to be in a place where it is my turn to give back.

As a healthcare worker and also in my personal life, I’ve seen first had what having MS can do to the mind and body. Please help me raise money for research for this often-debilitating disease. The wonderful people at Silver Grove financial group have allowed me to be part of the team, one team member of note is my son Jack. I am very excited to join him in this fundraising endeavor and race for a cause.

MS-UK was established in 1993, and is a national charity dedicated to empowering people with multiple sclerosis to make the most of today, and live life to the fullest.

MS-UK put people affected by MS at the heart of the work

that they do. They provide high quality, professional services to support people living with multiple sclerosis, and they listen to people affected by MS. Multiple sclerosis (MS) is a potentially disabling disease of the brain and spinal cord (central nervous system). There's no cure for multiple sclerosis. However, there are treatments to help speed the recovery from attacks, modify the course of the disease and manage symptoms. MS-UK put people affected by MS at the heart of the work that they do.
