Story
In the UK more than 100,000 hospital admissions each year are due to heart attacks; that's 280 admissions each day or 1 every 5 minutes. In the 1960s more than 7 out of 10 heart attacks in the UK were fatal. Today at least 7 out of 10 people survive.
The British Heart Foundation was founded 1961 and the vast amount of research that they have funded over that time period has gone a long way to contribute to this progress.
However, there is still a lot work to be done - heart and circulatory diseases still cause more than a quarter (28 per cent) of all deaths in the UK.
At Forth Valley Royal Hospital we continue to benefit every day from research projects funded by the BHF and want to do our part in fundraising!
Our team made of up of members of the cardiology team in Forth Valley will take part in this year’s Tough Mudder (full course) in aid of the BHF.
