Story
In 2021 I began running around Bristol in a couple of fancy dress costumes I had in my wardrobe. At first I did it for fun, to spread a bit of cheer, but people kept asking me if I was doing it for charity... so after completing 100 fun runs in 2022, I thought I'd aim for 1000... for charity!
I call each run a 'fun run for one', as apart from the occassional road race, I'm running alone in a silly costume. But I llike to think 'fun run for one' can also mean a fun run for all of us ('one') - one community, and thanks to my chosen charity, one world.
I hope I can improve on 100 fun runs in 2022, so I can reach 1000 fun runs quicker. I will post occassional updates here.
About my chosen charity: The Life You Can Save's Save Lives Fund
"Every day, approximately 14,000 children under five die - 5.3 million a year. Each of these children is valued by their families the same way that you value yours - a staggering amount of individual and combined grief. Most of these deaths occur in the poorest regions on the planet, and most of them are preventable or easily treated.
Evidence-based charities like Living Goods and Development Media International deliver life-saving interventions - from medical supplies to health education, to families with children who need help the most. Supporting charities like Malaria Consortium and Against Malaria Foundation bring malaria prevention resources to regions like sub-Saharan Africa, home to nearly 90% of the children who die from malaria each year - one every two minutes.
