Story

On 15th June 2024 - Our amazingly funny, caring and above all - brave Dad left us:

Dad battled so much over the years, his body tested him with so many things, and he got through with strength and humour. He slipped away after the toughest battle of his life, my goodness did he try to fight it.

In Dads memory we have kept this page open to further support the charity.

A reminder of why this started back in March:

Freddie has been learning about making a difference and after some little chats at home he would like to ride his bike and ‘raise money to help people like grampy get better’

Freddie is not yet 4, and he started riding without stabilisers only two weeks ago… but he’s going to try to complete 100 miles in March.

So why is he doing this..?

In November last year - Grampy was diagnosed with cancer. This led to an operation and a long stay in hospital. Every day Freddie wanted to know when grampy was coming home to play and be silly. Everyday we said the hospital were busy getting grampy better.

Grampy came home and Freddie wanted to head straight to check on him. We explained grampy would look a bit different, but he’s taken everything in his stride and was quickly asking grampy to play super heroes and hide and seek 😂

Grampy is now in week 3 of radiotherapy and it’s tough but he’s keeping his sense of humour. Again Freddie is asking every day if grampy is getting better… so we thought a challenge may help him feel like he’s helping.

Freddie chose bike riding and he’s super excited to get started and raise money to help others like his grampy. He may be 3 but he understands that he can make a difference and he wants to.

Across the Churchill Hospital lots of people have supported Dad and us as a family including the intensive care unit, haematology team, radiology and the list goes on. So we’ve chosen the hospital charity where the funding reaches all areas.

We appreciate times are harder at the moment; so if you can’t make a donation we understand.

If you see Freddie out and about please give him a wave and cheer to spur him on - he’ll love it! 👍

Thank you in advance 🥰
