Story

Across July 21st and 22nd a team from Managementors will be grinding it out to row 203km –the distance from Reading to the end of the Thames at Southend-on-Sea. All proceeds from the event will be donated to the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity – the chosen charity of Managementors for fundraising in 2023, a charity which has supported the immediate family and friends of numerous people within the company through challenging times.

The Significance of the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity:

The Royal Marsden is a world-renowned cancer centre at the forefront of breakthrough research, innovative treatments, and compassionate patient care. The work they do is absolutely first rate and they managed to extend the life of one of our consultant’s parents from a diagnosis of 10 days to live to enjoy over 3 years of time with their family. Managementors is aiming to raise a minimum of £10,000 over 2023 for the Royal Marsden and all money raised through this initiative, and others, will be matched by Managementors to double the proceeds.

By sponsoring the event you will be directly supporting the Royal Marsden’s groundbreaking research for improved treatments, enhanced quality of patient care in their state-of-the-art facilities as well as supporting the families of those affected by cancer with resources to navigate the emotional, practical, and financial challenges faced throughout the cancer journey.

The event:

12 participants will be continuously taking turns on a single rowing machine on Reading High Street from 8am – 6pm both days. What does that equate to in effort? 1-1.5 hours of rowing per person each day with many of the rowers performing across both days at an average pace of 10km per hour. It’s fair to say there is a mix of ages and abilities and it will provide a gruelling challenge to all involved.

How You Can Help:

Whilst we are hoping to raise significant funds from members of the public during the event we recognise many of you may not have the pleasure of passing through Reading High Street on these dates so additional sponsorship raised will be greatly appreciated, no matter the size of donation. Equally, spreading the word to others to raise awareness would also be brilliant.

Conclusion:

The struggles of our sweaty team bear nothing on the pain this awful disease causes for many families. We hope our small efforts can help contribute to the huge work the Royal Marsden Cancer Charity do to combat cancer and all those it impacts.
