Story
I’m running the Cardiff half marathon this year, possibly because my last attempt was foiled by COVID, possibly because of a crisis at turning 30. Who knows.
The honour of choosing the charity I should fundraise for was given to my mum. She had a shortlist of options but chose Bowel Cancer UK because, and I quote, ‘it has the worst website’… So hopefully some of the money raised will go towards an update!
On a more serious note, mum was diagnosed with bowel cancer in 2023. As the typical overachiever/superwoman she is, she’s been officially declared cancer-free! This wouldn’t have been possible without the research and treatments developed with the help of Bowel Cancer UK.
Any money you could spare would be greatly appreciated. It’s a great cause and it will keep me motivated to continue plodding round the course, where I will no doubt be greeted and cheered on by my very over-excited mother, who will almost definitely burst into tears when I cross the finish line.
Bowel Cancer UK is the UK's leading bowel cancer charity and we are determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer.
Bowel cancer is the UK's second biggest cancer killer with over 16,000 people dying annually of a disease that is preventable, treatable and curable. We are determined to change that. The funds raised will help us to provide support and information to patients and their families, enable us to fund and support research into bowel cancer and allow us to campaign for early diagnosis and best treatment and care for all.
