Story
Our beloved George was diagnosed with Ataxia-Telangiectasia (AT) at the age of 2. He never once let his disability get in his way, and grew into a kind young man with a fantastic sense of humour. George achieved a lot in his life, from taking part in musical theatre shows with performing arts groups and winning multiple medals for his Boccia team, the AT warriors. On top of this, George was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend. He touched the heart of everyone he met, whether that be through his quick wit or his caring nature.
George was diagnosed with Peritoneal Mesothelioma at the end of May 2024. After a short battle, he sadly passed away on August 27th 2024 at the age of 27. His family and friends are completely heartbroken since his passing, and want to raise money for a charity that was close to his heart. We are asking for donations to the AT Society in George's memory as opposed to floral tributes at his funeral.
Ataxia-Telangiectasia (“AT”) is a complex genetic disease which affects many parts of the body and causes severe disability. The symptoms include lack of balance, slurred speech and more than normal infections.
The AT Society is a small national charity unique to the UK in the services it offers families. The Society’s objective has been to alleviate the distress and suffering caused by AT.
The AT Society provides support services for families, funds research and specialist AT clinics, and helps raise awareness.
