Story
Team Domenica provide innovative and personalised employment programmes that develop independence, confidence, communication, and work skills for people with learning disabilities. By running for Team Domenica I’ll be supporting their Wrap Around Programme, and when you donate, you'll be supporting people like Ella.
Ella secured paid work at Sodexo at the Amex Stadium in 2023. What makes Ella's journey even more inspiring is that, even now, she still benefits from free access to the Team Domenica Wrap Around Programme. This indispensable initiative offers ongoing support to our graduates long after they've entered the workforce.
Consider this: the national employment rate for individuals with learning disabilities one year after graduating from a supported internship program stands at a mere 25%. But for Team Domenica candidates, it soars to an incredible 94%. Your support in will help continue this amazing work.
Seán is currently in his second year on a supported internship with Team Domenica and will hopefully be supported to find employment next year! Without the unique support that Team Domenica provide, Seán will find it incredibly hard to find employment and stay working. Despite the challenges Seán faces day to day, he wants to work, he wants to contribute and has a lot to give a prospective employer.
I've completed a marathon this year (2024) as part of an Ironman, mostly walking the 26.2 miles after completing 180km on the bike and swimming 3.8km in the sea. My aim is to run this and get a PB over the distance. I don't know yet what a realistic time will be. I suffered a Lis-Franc fracture in Nov 2023 and its been a long way back to fitness so although I've done the distance, this is still very much a challenge!
