Event: First Page Readathon, on 1 December 2023
First Page helps families facing challenge spark a life-long love of reading with their children; this Christmas, we’re asking Readers near and far to join our Big Festive Read to keep our work reaching those who need it most.

Story

This winter Dougie, Molly and Frances are taking part in a Readathon, raising money for First Page - a project helping children discover the joy and life-long benefits of reading.

We'll be taking it in turns to read a festive poem or story aloud every day from December 1st to December 24th. We'll record clips of our readings and post them on Instagram every day @frannymac31

About The Reader's First Page project:

Reading for pleasure is the single most important thing that will make a child successful in life (UNESCO, 2011).

Working with partners across the Liverpool City Region, including Alder Hey Children’s Hospital, The Whitechapel Centre, Kinship Carers, Refugee Women Connect and Save the Family, First Page reaches children experiencing a wide range of challenging circumstances such as homelessness, illness, refugee status, and kinship care (living in the care of a family members other than parents).
