Story
My name is Frances and I have always been well aware of how lucky I am not to have to worry about food and sustaining myself during my education. More than 67 million primary school-age children worldwide are out of school living day to day working instead of learning, and worrying about where their next meal will come from. Hunger dictates their every day and blocks any chances of learning with extreme discomfort and exhaustion.
The charity Mary’s Meals provides nutritious meals to these children in need, in some of the worlds poorest countries, helping hunger become less of a concern and allowing them to focus more on their ability to learn. Since Mary’s Meals began, many children who had stopped attending have returned to school and they now feed 2,429,182 children every school day, such a significant number so far that surely it should be continue to be supported.
On the 20th of August I will be taking part in the 6km open water Bosphorus Cross-Continental swim in Istanbul, Turkey in order to raise money for Mary’s meals. £19.50 can feed a child every day for a school year so please join me in supporting this cause.
