Story
Hi everyone! myself and my mum are raising money for alzheimer’s society and braving a skydive in September for the cause!
We are raising money for my beautiful nan and an amazing mother to my mum, Tracey Ann Clarke.
Let me tell you about Tracey, she is bat shit crazy! this woman has no fear! She has ALWAYS wanted to skydive and but it’s something she just can’t do at this point. That’s why, myself and my mum who are absolutely terrified… want to do this for her!
I am so blessed to live with my grandparents and cherish every moment we have together. Some things never change, she’s feisty, stubborn and will take the piss out of you at any opportunity!
But truly, she is the greatest woman we have ever known. Despite everything that would knock a person down, she gets up every morning with a smile on her face and brings positivity to all of our lives.
Alzheimers’s is the most heartbreaking disease. Every day is hard and will only ever get harder. Watching someone you love, slowly fade away will never get any easier.
Alzheimer’s is still having your nan or mum, but them as a person, is not there. The person you spoke to for everything in your life is no longer someone you can speak too. Alzheimer’s is forgetting the time, then forgetting your birthday then to now, forgetting how to get dressed, putting themselves in danger by forgetting to eat or turning the oven off!
Tracey is at a point where her words get very muddled, her feelings can be very unpredictable and her short term memory is declining. Alzheimer’s doesn’t care and it won’t stop.
Alzheimer’s doesn’t just affect the person, it affects all their loved ones. Little things hurt, i know i won’t come home to my nan asking about my day, my mum, auntie or uncle won’t receive a text to check up on them on their worst days and my grandad hasn’t got the woman he once met.
There’s so much more to say, so much more to tell you about my nan, so much anger and so much hurt to express over this evil disease.
I want everyone to know how important Tracey is and how much she means to my family. I want everyone to know how much she has not let Alzheimer’s ruin her life and how hard she tries to maintain a normal life.
We loved you then and we love you now nanny.
Please donate if you can. Please help me and my mum do this for Tracey and give the awareness Alzheimer’s deserves!
