Story
A few questions sprung to mind when we first considered the idea of the Zephyrs Firewalk Fundraiser. A quick search of the FAQs online told us many people have also previously had the same thoughts…
Is it a trick?
No – the fire is very real. The embers will be glowing red-hot and we can often measure the temperature at around 1,200 degrees Fahrenheit. You will have bare feet, and they will not have been treated in any way.
Will I be hypnotised?
No. There is no hypnotism involved. You will be fully awake at all times – indeed you will be more alert than usual.
Is it safe?
There is an inherent risk in any activity involving fire.
Did we sign up anyway? Of course we did! And you all know the reason why.
This is for our son Seth, who will always be the reason we do, and never the reason we don’t.
For Seth’s second birthday we will both be taking part in the Zephyr's Firewalk on 15 November 2023 to raise vital funds.
Zephyrs supports parents and families in Nottingham who have experienced loss, from early gestation to the death of an older child, through volunteer-led peer support; specialist bereavement counselling; safe spaces of connection; creative and holistic therapies; information sharing, books and resources. All funds raised by fire walkers will support the Zephyr's bereavement counselling service.
For those who are local, feel free to pop down to the Trent Navigation Inn (17 Meadow Lane, Nottingham, NG2 3HS) on November 15th at 8pm to watch us walk over the hot embers.
Thank you all for your continued love for the three of us and for helping us to support this much needed charity.
