We match girls with inspirational mentors to help build their unlimited futures

Story

Team Force Atlantic are an all-female military team who will take on the World's Toughest Row, a 3000 mile row from San Sebastian in La Gomera, Canary Islands to Nelson’s Dockyard English Harbour, Antigua & Barbuda in December 2024.

Our vision is to create a legacy and promote women in adventure, inspiring others to believe in what's possible. Our team of women is made up of rowers and support members, all whom have which come together to create something much bigger than just one incredible challenge. We want to reach as many people as possible and share our story, empowering others to push themselves further than they ever thought possible. And hey, we love injecting a bit of humour along the way because life's too short not to have fun! We're not just a rowing team; we're a force to be reckoned with.

Our chosen charity is The Girls Network. We plan to not only raise money but also become mentors and link our post row engagement tour with the schools that they work with.

The Girls’ Network believe that no girls should have their futures limited by their gender, sex, ethnicity, background, or parental income and they should be supported to realise their ambitions, to discover their self-worth, and to develop their capacity to shape their world and their futures.

The charity works to inspire and empower 14-19 year old girls by building their confidence, self-esteem and aspirations through 121 mentoring and access to a network of role models and through delivering workshops on life skills and providing access to new opportunities. Many of the girls they work with don’t believe they can have high-status careers or achieve their ambitions, and may have only been exposed to narrow, stereotypical experiences of work.

They work with around 1000 girls a year from the least advantaged communities. Following the programme 75% of girls say they are able to focus more at school, 91% feel more confident and 93% feel more positive about the future.

Help us to make a difference to the lives of thousands of teenage girls across the country. Your contributions will directly support their vital programmes and help more young women to achieve their full potential in life.
