Jolly Jumpers for YMCA Derbyshire, 14 December 2022
YMCA Derbyshire is raising funds to provide a Christmas to remember for their young people who are currently at risk of facing homelessness. The aim is to provide a delicious Christmas dinner, gift and activities to give them they day they deserve.

Story

YMCA Derbyshire support many different individuals. Jamie is one of those who has been supported by the charity over the last two years.

Jamie was unfortunately asked to leave his family home in 2020 due to a family dispute. He spent months sofa surfing, sleeping in sheds and taking refuge in his sisters foster home. Since living at YMCAD, Jamie has achieved so much. After finding school very difficult, Jamie never thought he'd get any qualifications. However, with the help of YMCA Derbyshire staff, he got into college and began studying agriculture, passing all his courses and getting a health and safety certificate.

Jamie now has a full-time job at a demolition firm and has moved into his own accommodation. In a couple of years, he hopes to go to university to study agriculture and own his own farm.
