About Flora

Let us tell you a little about Flora from her mum Stephanie below.

"Flora is 5 years old and battling stage 4 Neuroblastoma cancer for the second time. She was first diagnosed at the age of 2, and underwent a gruelling 15 months of treatment. Along with dealing with the harsh side effects of strong chemotherapy drugs and life-threatening surgeries, Flora almost lost her life to sepsis.

In July 2022, Flora rang the end of treatment bell and was declared cancer-free. We spent a year rebuilding our lives from the fallout of cancer. Flora took part in new clubs, trying everything from horse riding to gymnastics! After almost a year and a half of isolating during treatment, she enjoyed her new-found freedom. Sadly, it was short lived, as a year after finishing treatment we devastatingly discovered that she had relapsed. Unlike before, there is no standard protocol for curing relapsed Neuroblastoma. There are a lot of unknowns, and most of treatment involves clinical trials and experimental drugs.

Flora is 9 months into her treatment for relapse and she is coming to the end of her NHS treatment plan. Our hope is to enrol her in a clinical trial in New York which aims to stop the cancer from returning. In order for Flora to enrol on this clinical trial, we need to fundraise £210,000.

If we don’t enrol Flora on this clinical trial, we can say with confidence that she will relapse again. Statistically, the odds are not in her favour, and with every relapse, we lose options for treatment. This clinical trial is our glimmer of hope that Flora will once again, be able to enjoy a life without cancer."
