Story
We've had a record breaking year at RATS in 2024 - we've rehomed over 100 dogs and the year isn't even out!
However the huge costs which we are incurring far outweigh our adoption fees. As a small (but big hearted!) charity run by volunteers, we are totally reliant on the kindness and generosity of our supporters to be able to rescue as many dogs as possible.
Our vet bills run into tens of thousands each month and we are desperately looking for support with one of our latest RATS Family members, whose medical needs are particularly complex and costly.
Little Fleur the Frenchie arrived in our care recently as a stray. We have no idea what horrors she experienced in her previous life but she is in a very sorry state indeed.
We strongly suspect that she has spent her life in a cage at a puppy farm, being bred from relentlessly.
She will have been prone to ear infections and having been left untreated for years, she now has the most horrendous case of ear polyps that our vet has ever seen. Not only are they incredibly painful, they have caused irreversible damage to her inner ear canals. The only option is complex surgery, which will leave Fleur completely deaf. She also has a worrying and uncomfortable cyst on her eye and we are awaiting advice from a specialist regarding the best way forward for this.
Fleur has already had surgery on one of her ears and she's recovering well, but she will need further surgeries for her second ear, her eye and she will also need to be spayed. The fact that she still needs to go through so much in order to feel better is heart breaking!
Despite her horrific condition from cruelty, neglect and goodness knows what else, Fleur is the happiest, funny, most loving little girl. She has somehow managed to find it in her to still adore people, and she has been so friendly and affectionate with her furry foster friends too. We're in complete awe of her bravery and we're committed to turning her life around.
Fleur is just one of several dogs currently in our care who require extensive medical attention and we are expecting her procedures to cost in excess of £5,000.
We would be grateful for even the smallest donation to help us to help our beloved Fleur. It's crucial that she is given the very best care, no matter the cost.
As always RATS Family, we wouldn't be able to save dogs like Fleur without your love and support. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts and we hope that you can help us with even just a few pounds.
