Why Support the High Atlas Foundation (HAF):
Lynn Houmdi, who resides in Edinburgh with her Moroccan husband and their son, has a deep connection to Morocco. They lived together in Essaouira, where Yassine is from, for two years, where Joanna and Leszek visited them in 2012. In total, Lynn has spent over ten years living, visiting, working, and researching in Morocco.
Fortunately, their family and friends in Morocco are shaken but unhurt by the earthquake and have not experienced any significant material damage. As you will have seen from the news - not everyone was so lucky, particularly those in the remote mountain villages of the High Atlas.
Lynn has chosen the High Atlas Foundation (HAF) as the recipient of the funds from this event. She worked with them as a Project Manager and Provincial Director for a year and knows they have the relationships, connections, and understanding of impoverished rural communities that is necessary for sustainable reconstruction of people's homes, lives, and livelihoods.
