Story

Every year Paulo Pontine chooses a charity to support. To do this, we ask each tutor group to select a charity and to present their choice to the house. Following these presentations in House Assemblies all the boys in the house vote and this year’s winner is Sarcoma UK.

This charity was proposed by Mrs Okusanya/Mr Payne’s tutor group as Thomas, one of the boys in the group had a particular reason for wanting us to support it. In June 2023 his uncle and Old Bedfordian, Chris Synnott died after being diagnosed with Sarcoma. Sarcoma is a rare type of cancer that begins in bone or in the soft tissues of the body. Chris was told he had a year to live but sadly died 187 days after diagnosis.

The boys in Paulo Pontine along with our joint boarding house Redburn aim to run 187 miles at least in memory of Chris but also to raise money for this important charity.

All the boys in the house are being encouraged to take part in the charity run so we would be very grateful for your support.

Please do share with grandparents and friends as we really want to do our best in raising money.

Synovial sarcomas are a rare and under-funded cancer.

Your donations go so far in helping the sarcoma community:

£1 Could cover the cost of 10 texts to the support line.

£10 Could be used to buy microscope slides to look at synovial sarcoma cells in minute detail.

£30 Could fund one hour of use of a high-powered laboratory microscope.

£150 Could fund the support line for a week.

Thank you for your support.
